01/31/2012 - Chris Overholt, CEO of the Canadian Olympic Committee Presents New Timing System in Moncton

City of Moncton was hailed as a world class host for sporting events and receives a $50,000 donation from Mr. Overholt as part of the Olympic Legacy Fund. As a result of the donation, Codiac Vikings Aquatic Club and Club de Natation Bleu et Or partnered with the Universite de Moncton to obtain $27,000 of the $50,000 towards a new electronic timing system for the CEPS pool. This has been a great partnership between two clubs from greater Moncton. Both CNBO and CVAC would like to thank the Canadian Olympic Committee, CEO Chris Overholt, City of Moncton, Mayor George LeBlanc, Universite de Moncton, Recteur Yvon Fontaine for supporting competitive swimming in Moncton. 04/01/2012 - Thank You from the Gagetown-Oromocto Titans Invitational

The Organizing Committee of the Gagetown-Oromocto Titans would like to thank all Clubs that came to the CFB Gagetown Spring Fling Invitational held March 24-25, 2012. The meet was promising to be one that has never been done before in the Province of NB - a Masters meet held concurrent with an Age Group/Para meet...we even had a Time Trial at the beginning of Session 1. The meet did get off to a rocky start with clarity issues on Saturday morning, but with only a 45 minute delay, we were able to finish off both sessions in a timely manner. Then, unfortunately, due to a broken water pipe, which found us staring at a half empty pool on Sunday morning, we had to cancel the rest of the meet. This did not distract from the meet, as everybody who was in attendance was very gracious and forgiving. For that we are extremely grateful. The feedback and support from the athletes and parents I have received since then has been wonderful. It is our hope that we can host another meet like this next season...minus a broken pipe, of course. To my knowledge, there has never been a broken pipe like that in the facility...Murphy's Law just chose us on that particular day.
We would also like to thank the many Officials that came out where we really needed it - Meet Mentor (Gary Losier), Computer Operator (Tamara Booker), and all the other officials that helped from FAST, WVST, TIDE, and TCSC. We couldn`t have done it without you!!
A special thank you to our Sponsors - Sour Grape, Gateway Tim Horton's, and Subway for their generous donations. And an extra special Thank You to the 13 Masters swimmers that were in attendance. They thoroughly enjoyed being there, and the feedback I received from them, Age Group swimmers and their parents was outstanding.
The Age Group swimmers, along with the spectators, enjoyed watching them compete. The end result was two-fold - Masters swimmers were able to compete in a fully sanctioned meet, and Age Group swimmers realized there is swimming after Age Group and University. Swimming is for life.
Despite the meet ending up being only one day, we hope that eveybody involved from organizing, to officiating, to competing, to being a spectator had a great time!!! The pipe has since been fixed and our swimmers were back in the water before the week was out training for MLTC!!
Thank you again...and we look forward to seeing you at the next competition!!!

11/01/2011 - East Coast Championship 2011-12 Standards

The Atlantic Standards committee met to discuss how the ECC standards should be shaped in the future. From the 2011 Atlantic Coaches Conference, the agreed philosophy of East Coast Championships was to offer an Atlantic Championship competition that represented a peak competition of the SC and LC seasons, and served as a stepping stone competition from the provincial to national level. With this in mind, the committee developed a new set of standards that are based off a percentage of Age Group Nationals that progressively encourages swimmers towards the national level. 2011-2012 Standards
