‘Splash into summer ‘ Outdoor meet.

The Saint John Fundy Swim Club, TIDE, a member of Swimming New Brunswick, was proud to hosting the 3rd Annual TIDE-qplex “Splash into Summer” Outdoor Swim meet on June 15-16 at the 97.3 The Wave Pool at the qplex in Quispamsis.  This competition saw over 200 swimmers registered from 8 different swim teams from all over southern New Brunswick as well as Nova Scotia.

The two-day event, which saw beautiful sunny skies for all three sessions, gave all the swimmers a fun way to wind down the competitive swim season for 2013. As a sanctioned SWIM NB event it also gave many of the province’s younger swimmers an opportunity to achieve recognized best times and experience a swim meet in a fun, outdoor environment for the very first time.

In order to make this a fun event, TIDE included a few bonus items in the meet fees such as a complimentary meet t-shirt, a swimmer BBQ and of course once the races were done opening up the slides and WAVE fun pool for the competitors. The Sunshine and warm weather was free!

“TIDE is proud to host this event,” says TIDE team president Gary Losier.  “We are in our third year and we have seen attendance increases each year with this year being the biggest yet!” Keep June 14 &15, 2014 open as we plan for next year’s meet.

Many thanks to the teams for coming out, and a special thanks to those parents and officials who braved sunburn by volunteering to be deck officials and timers for the event.
