Looking for a Camp Hosts

If your club is interested in hosting any of the upcoming DEVO Camps this season, please let us know.

A camp template has been developed to ensure consistency across the province, however Coaches running the camp are ultimately responsible for delivering the camp.

Minimum Requirements – Coach Registration Level D

First Year coaches must be at least 15 years of age and need to complete one of the following by Nov 30th to be NCCP compliant:

  • Community Coach Trained – includes Community Sport Coach course and MED training module, OR
  • Fundamentals (101) Coach in training which includes the Swimming 101 pre course workbook, OR
  • Swimming Teacher in training by a recognized provider

Coaches registered in Category A1, A2 and C must be Fundamentals Coach Certified (101) by Nov 30th

Required for Coaches to attend SNC Sanctioned Swim Meets:

First year coaches registered in category D, must be accompanied by a coach certified at a higher level (101, 201 or 301 Certified) in order to coach at a sanctioned.

Only exception is if a coach is 101 Trained, they are able to coach at a sanctioned meet without being accompanied by a higher-level coach as outlined above

Coach Compliance

Compliance items required to be registered with SNB/SNC include:

  1. Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Check – renewable every 2 years, send a copy to info@swimnb.ca
  2. NCCP Certification based on year of coaching and level of the swimmer – check your locker.ca
  3. PD Points based on level of certification – check your locker.ca
  4. Safe Sport OR Respect in Sport course – renewable every 5 years, check your locker.ca

Coaching Courses

Safe Sport and Making Ethical Decisions are held through CoachNB and you can sign up through locker.ca. If you do not have an account with locker.ca please create one.

We are arranging for an online Community Coach Course to be held tentatively on November 13. We will let you know as soon as more details are confirmed.

Domestic Para Clinic Opportunity

Swim NS hosting a Domestic Para Clinic with Swimming Canada on Feb 28 & 29, 2024 at Dalplex Pool.

Dates:
Wed, Feb 28 6:00-0:00 pm
Thurs, Feb 29 8:00 am – 2: 30 pm (45 min lunch break)

Prerequisites:
Stroke Clinic & Turn Clinic

At the top of the page select “Clinics”

Ensure the Province is set to “Nova Scotia” and the Year is set to ‘2024’
