Kassidy has been steadily improving for the past couple of years and a lot of that has to do with the hard work she is putting into her practices. Recently she has had to recover from a knee injury from basketball that sidelined her for most of the first month of 2016. She didn’t let it discourage her and once she was able to get back in the pool, she certainly made up for lost time.
At the Nova Scotia Short Course Age Group Championships in February, after only training for 2.5 weeks, she took off a total of 26 seconds from her best times (in her best events), brought home a Gold medal, three Silver medals and one Bronze medal in the 13/14 girls category, qualified for Age Group Nationals in 4 new events (bringing her total to 6 across 3 different strokes) and qualified for Canadian Eastern Nationals in 2 events (100 fly and 50 back)
Kassidy got up and raced at a meet where the competition level was high even though her preparation level was lower than desired. She took a leap of faith, never settled and learned a few life lessons in the process. We are all very proud of what you have accomplished so far this year and are excited to see what will come from the long course season. Keep up the hard work, it will truly take you wherever you want to go.
