Swimming in New Brunswick and COVID-19

SNB has a duty of care to all of those involved in swimming in NB, so the health, safety and wellbeing of New Brunswick swimmers, coaches, officials and staff remains our top priority. Feel free to consult the following page for some advice and measures in times of corona. Moreover, we have translated the basic protective measures into SNB language, as you can see below:

SNB Board of Directors: Conference Facility available

We have a new conference facility which allows for both on-line connections (video/audio or audio only) and telephone dial-in. This is available to SNB committees and clubs but must be reserved with the ED. Priority will be given to SNB BoD and committees, clubs’ requests will be served on a “first-come first-served” basis.

Technical Committee: Calendar Sub-Committee

  • Current Season Meet Calendar: In compliance with the recent announcements of Swimming Canada, all competitions scheduled for until 30th April 2020 are cancelled. The next update as to competitions after this date is foreseen for 6th April 2020 – we will keep you apprised of further developments as and when they occur. The calendar sub-committee is currently discussing different options for re-running, combining or cancelling certain competitions.
  • 2020/2021 Meet Calendar: We would like to thank FAST, NES, TIDE, MWC, CVAC, CNBO and AQUA for their inputs and comments – kindly note that we have extended the period for feedback to 25th March 2020. However, the initial date of 15th April 2020 for publication of the calendar will remain unaffected.

Six provincial records were broken at the Nova Scotia Championships, five by Zackary Murphy (TIDE) and one by Summer Esson (CVAC).

Communication Committee : Contest

Hey swimmers! Is everyone staying active during this time off? Let’s put it to the test! We, SwimNB, will begin posting contests for all the athletes and parents. For our first contest, you have to show us your most creative way to stay in shape by sending us pictures or videos of your workouts no later than Sunday, 29th March 2020. We will then pick the most creative work out and you will be our first winner! Prize is this nice swim cap. You can DM us your pictures/videos or use our hashtag #coronacantstopswimmers

Best regards,
