SNB and COVID-19 – Update
Swimming Canada has cancelled all national events during summer and all competitions until 30th April 2020 (but this could be prolonged). They are also recommending that swimmers have 30 days of training between pools reopening and their first competition. The NB Government has also announced that schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year. This makes it unlikely that we can resume activities in May.
We are nevertheless hopeful that we will be able to hold some meets during June and July, if provincial and municipal health authorities allow pools to re-open. We have prepared a series of plans so that we can restart as soon as possible. In particular, we want to be able to have meets for all our swimmers and so we are prioritising a Celebrate Return to the Pool meet, the Premier Festival and a LC Championships. Of course, dates and places will depend upon when and where pools reopen.
We are watching the situation closely (as you certainly are) and we look forward to seeing everyone in the pool as soon as possible.
In the meantime, please encourage your swimmers to continue with dry land and other training and to keep their spirits up.
Financial Resources for Non-Profit Organizations including Swim Clubs
You can find a summary of the new 75% Wage Subsidy Program with further details announced by the Federal Government on 1st April 2020. The application process for this federal program is still being developed by the government. We will update the resources shortly but wanted to make sure you had this most current information.
