Swimming Canada (SNC): Return to Swimming Framework

SNC has just released the 1st version of the Return to Swimming Framework and Swimming New Brunswick (SNB) thanks those who developed this document. Our own Working Group has spent the last 3 weeks preparing an SNB Operational Plan that combines national and provincial guidelines with the situation and needs of our clubs. We expect to have this ready for you by Wednesday, 3rd June 2020, and we hope that pools in the province will start reopening soon after.

The NB Government requires that each organization (each club) prepare an operational plan. We have tried to make our plan “ready to go”, but your club will still need to check this with pool managers and you will need to adapt the SNB Plan to your pool. We will also be providing a guide to the roles and responsibilities of all involved (SNB, Clubs, Coaches, Staff and Swimmers) and an Acknowledgement of Risk form (that should be signed by anyone engaged in your activities).

SNC : New Safe Sport Initiatives

As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, SNC has developed new safe sport initiatives. Below is the link to the memo released by SNC about these two initiatives as well as the National Screening Policy matching the screening policies already in place in NB.

Jeremy Leigh Earns $100k Scholarship

Jeremy Leigh, a swimmer of Club Campbellton Aquatika Club (AQUA), has been selected to receive the Schulich Leader Scholarship worth $ 100,000 to continue his studies. He is the first recipient of his school to receive this prestigious recognition.

Congratulations, Jeremy! #swimNBproud

2020-21 SNB Meet Calendar

The Calendar for next season is almost finalized, you can retrieve it via the link below. Discussions with clubs have resolved several conflicts, however, the Presidents Council will have to be called for vote on the location of the Premier Festival. We will also get in touch with the three clubs of the South region to see if the conflicts as to Premiers #1 and #4 can be solved.

Some events are still open and you are more than welcome to contact us if your club is able to host any of these. Over the coming months, we will need to consider how to run meets in a Covid environment.

Clubs – Medals and Ribbons

In preparation for next season and in order to reduce the costs of running meets, SNB plans to purchase a large quantity of medals and ribbons for distribution to clubs. We are in the process of seeking suppliers and would be pleased if you could recommend your provider(s) with an indication of the price of each item. THANK YOU. We would like to point out that it is our aim to support the local market, so preference will be given to NB suppliers.

Best regards,
Marwen Ghali
