Return to Training – Message from the Sport and Recreation Branch

The Sport and Recreation Branch has informed us that the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (OCMOH) has decided to not permit ‘bubbles’ for sports in NB based on public health evidence (current and emerging) associated with transmission of COVID-19 and the risk mitigation measures to protect community and sport-participant health. Public Health continues to be concerned with the probability of a 2nd wave of this pandemic. Recent studies also show that transmittal of the virus may be possible via airborne transmission. Physical distancing is a crucial risk mitigation strategy that we must all continue to enforce.

Swimming NB invites all members that have resumed training to remain vigilant and to limit contact prior to/after practice and between/during sets.

Below you can find the link to the most recent version of the FAQ as per the information received by WorkSafe NB and the OCMOH. This update mainly refers to the necessity of maintaining physical distancing, information on the participants taking part in their activities and the travel of sport teams within the “Atlantic Bubble”.

Swimming Canada (SNC) – FAQ

The updated FAQ related to Version 2 of the SNC Return to Swimming Resource document are now available at the SNC COVID-19 hub.

The latest updates are mainly on the maximum number of swimmers per lane and LC training.

Swim NB Challenge

Swimming NB will be launching a virtual challenge for swimmers who have resumed training. The challenge will neither be official nor sanctioned – the ranking will be virtual and will be posted on our website. More information on the events and prizes will be communicated to you in the coming days.

Registration Fees Season 2020-2021

SNB Board of Directors has decided in its meeting on 20th July 2020 to maintain the registration fees for the 2020-2021 season.

Moreover, SNC will be freezing the registration fee increase for next season, so there will be no change as to the total fees to be paid by clubs. You can retrieve a table summarizing the registration fees for swimmers and coaches for the 2020-2021 season and all necessary registration forms in the club resources section.
