COVID-19 Recreation & Sport FAQs (1.29.21)

There are no major changes to the sport and recreation guidance, but the Frequently Asked Questions were updated to reflect a minor change at Question 10 (outdoor gatherings of 50 allowed vs 25.

Here is a brief highlight of what was shared during the Press Conference of January 29th, that can relate to our sector:

The zones that are in the Orange Alert Level are expected to remain at the Orange alert level for several more weeks

Your household bubble is expanded to include 10 contacts from outside your household not including participants in an organized sport & rec activity.

New programs should not begin in the Orange Alert level

Swimming Canada: Race Again Challenge

The Introduction stage of the Speedo #RaceAgain Challenge finished. Thank you to all NB swimmers who participated!

In recognition of the many clubs not able to get in the pool and train, SNC has updated the Speedo #RaceAgain Challenge stages by postponing Stage 1 and updating with the current Stages 2 and 3 dates.

The updated stage schedule is below:

Stage 1

Competition dates:
February 26 – March 7, 2021

Entry deadline:
March 8, 2021

Stage 2

Competition dates:
2 April 8 – 18,2021

Entry Deadline:
April 23, 2021

Stage 3

Competition dates:
May 21 – 30, 2021

Entry Deadline:
June 4, 2021

Each stage will have its own event file.

Results from each stage can be entered as “entry” times and submitted by uploading the entry file through the Swimming Canada database as swim meet entries are usually done.

Technical Sub-Committees

We encourage coaches registered with Swimming NB during the 2020-21 season with NCCP1 fundamental certification (level 1) or higher who are interested to join one or more of our technical sub-committees to fill out the following online form before February 15, 2021.

The ACEN is hosting a coach training session to be held in French on February 4, 2021.

The session will be conducted by Dr. Daphne Laurin-Landry (INS Quebec) on the topic: “Taking care of my

mental health to help my athletes, my family and myself”.
