Board of Directors: Review Acting ED

The Board of Directors recently undertook a 6-month performance review of our Executive Director, including consultations with a number of presidents, coaches and officials. In particular, Marwen’s work on communications and his presence at meets were appreciated by many. The Board congratulated Marwen on the efforts he has made to learn about swimming in NB and confirmed his appointment as Acting ED.

President’s Council (PC)

At the last meeting of the President’s Council, which took place on 4th February 2020, Gordonna Hache, President of the Swordfish of Sussex was re-elected as the Council’s president. Congratulations, Gordonna! The next PC meeting is going to be held in Saint John in the course of the NB Spring Champs.

Technical Committee: Camp NextGen

We remind you that TODAY is the deadline to register for the Performance and NextGen camp, which will be held in Saint John on Sunday, 16th February 2020.

Technical Committee: Calendar Sub-Committee

We thank all clubs for their feedback regarding the 2019-20 meets calendar and we would like to inform you that the calendar sub-committee will print the silhouette and general plan of the calendar and it will be placed in one of the rooms at the Canada Games Aquatic Center during the events this weekend. You are all invited to take a look at the calendar and discuss options. Thanks, Brian and Ryan, for this brilliant idea!

Officials: Shirts

All officials, who have ordered shirts, will receive them this weekend at the LC Invitational in Saint John co-hosted by Saint John Fundy Aquatic Club (TIDE) and Club De Natation Bleu Et Or (CNBO).

Coaches: Make Ethical Decisions online course

We thank all clubs’ presidents and coaches for their efforts made so that coaches are compliant with provincial and national requirements. There are still some spots available for the course on 25th February 2020 for coaches, who have not (yet) passed the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions.

10 & Under Festival – Miramichi

SwimNB has opened the 10&under meet sanction for the 22nd February 2020 in Miramichi to accept entries from any team in the province and not only from the North region. You can find more details here.

Two New Brunswickers in Top10 for 2020 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships

We are glad to inform you that our two swimmers Brooklyn Douthwright (CVAC) and Jacob Gallant (FAST) have been selected among the ten best swimmers in Canada eligible for selection to the 2020 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, which will be held in Pearl City/Hawaii, US.

The team will be selected at the 2020 Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Swimming Trials taking place in Toronto from 30th March to 5th April 2020.

To be noted that Jacob is ranked 1st in 400 IM and 2nd in 200m Breaststroke and 200m IM, while Brooklyn is ranked 2nd in 100m and 200m Freestyle. Fingers crossed for our two swimmers!  #swimNBproud

David Fry Nova Scotia Provincial Championships

For their upcoming Provincial Championships, which will be held from 5th to 8th March 2020 in Halifax, Swim NS wishes to include a list of all participating teams on the back of the event shirts. Thus, in case your club should plan to attend the championships, please inform them by e-mail to swimming@sportnovascotia.ca on or before Tuesday, 18th February 2020.
